The Soft Pad Chair is a chair family designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1969 and produced by Vitra. It builds on the construction of the Aluminium Group but adds sewn-on cushions for greater seating comfort. The family includes conference chairs such as EA 205, EA 207 and EA 208 and office swivel chairs such as EA 217 and EA 219.

Soft Pad Chairs and Aluminium Chairs share the same construction and aluminium frame. On the Aluminium Chair the cover is stretched between the side frames, while the Soft Pad Chair adds sewn-on cushions. This makes the Soft Pad Chair softer to sit on while keeping its slim lines.

Soft Pad Chairs from Vitra Circle for Contract are refurbished by the manufacturer. Each chair is fully dismantled, its aluminium and chrome parts are polished and the cushions and cover are renewed. The chair is then reassembled at the Vitra factory, with fabrics, leathers and colours chosen freely.

Soft Pad Chairs from Vitra Circle for Contract have had a first period of use and enter their second life cycle after refurbishment. Vitra dismantles, polishes and re-upholsters each chair and reassembles it in its own factory. This saves up to 90% CO₂ compared with buying new.
